Carson City arrests: Suspected drunk driver caught after fleeing crash at Roop and William

A suspected drunk driver who collided with two vehicles Thursday morning at the intersection of Roop and William Street and then drove away after witnesses attempted to stop her, faces several charges including gross misdemeanor second DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The suspect, who was driving a vehicle with Wyoming plates, also faces charges of battery, driving with a suspended license, open container and obstructing.

According to the arrest report, a group of witnesses attempted to detain the suspect following the accident at around 8 a.m. at the intersection. One witness who attempted to stop the suspect was battered. The suspect was able to free herself, return to the vehicle and escape. One of the witnesses followed the vehicle to the Dollar General on Highway 50 and Airport Road.

A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived on scene and identified the vehicle, which clearly showed damage from the accident. When addressed by a CCSO deputy the suspect would only identify herself by her first name.

According to the arrest report she had very slurred speech, red watery eyes, droopy eyelids and her head kept nodding downward. An opened, less that full gallon jug of wine sat on the passenger side floorboard, the arrest report states.

The suspect had difficulty exiting the vehicle upon request and was unable to maintain balance, according to the CCSO deputy account.

She became uncooperative and swore at officers, providing only a first name and refusing a preliminary breath test. When asked about the incident she replied, “f**k you. I’m not telling you nothing,” the arrest report states.

The suspect was taken into custody at 8:28 a.m. on the above mentioned offenses and was transported to Carson City jail. At jail a deputy read her voluntary evidence request. The woman replied “f**k you. I ain’t doing s**t," the arrest report states. A warrant for a blood draw was requested and issued. Bail: $6,240.

In other arrests:
— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 2 a.m., in the 2000 block of E. William Street. Myron Buckley was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor violation of bail conditions. Total bail: $5,637.

A second arrest was made during this stop when a 42-year-old Carson City woman was booked for felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Carson City.

A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy recognized the driver, Buckley, and was already aware that he did not have a valid driver’s license from prior contact.

According to the arrest report, and after checking DMV records for confirmation, the deputy observed Buckley park and quickly enter a William Street casino. Upon contact by the officer, Buckley was hostile and had to be detained. During a pat-down the officer found a meth pipe and a small bag of a white crystalline substance.

Upon a records check the female, Medina, was found to have an active warrant out of Carson City. During a search a glass pipe and seal bag of alleged methamphetamine was discovered in her purse. Rosa Medina was booked with total bail at $2,852.

— A 44-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 10:22 p.m., in the 500 block of Classic Court for misdemeanor DUI 2nd offense within seven years and misdemeanor no valid driver’s license.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible reckless driver. Upon arrival, a CCSO deputy observed the reported vehicle with its front wheels on the sidewalk and its back wheels in the street. The driver’s side door was wide open and the vehicle was running and in gear. As the officer approached, the driver put the car in park and stumbled out of the vehicle nearly falling to the ground.

The driver showed every sign of impairment according to the arrest report. She claimed that she was parked in front of her house, but in reality was one street away. Total bail: $2,829.

— A 24-year-old Sparks man was arrested and transported from Washoe County Jail to Carson City jail on Thursday, 4 p.m., on a contempt of court warrant. Bail: $5,000.

—A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested and transported from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Thursday, 4 p.m., on three outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Carson City. Open container in vehicle, DUI second offense, and violation of suspended sentence. Total bail: $8,000.

— A 26-year-old Reno man was transported from Douglas County and arrested on a Carson City misdemeanor warrant for violation of suspended sentence, Thursday, 9 p.m. Bail: $3,000.

— A 55-year-old Gardnerville man was transported from Douglas County Jail to Carson City Thursday, 8:30 a.m., on a Carson City warrant for misdemeanor contempt of court. Bail: $5,000.
